I love getting to explore new places, and I love how much this family loves to explore. They moved here from Chicago about a year ago, when they found me on Instagram and we met for the first time. I’ve really enjoyed keeping up with them and all of their local adventures on Facebook and Instagram, even seeing how they’re managing to keep their love and joy and adventure and exploring going through the pandemic. This year, mom suggested shooting with the Design District in Miami as a backdrop, and of course I was game. They were up for more fun, and I love how that feeling jumps out of the photos in their gallery.

I also love when clients become friends. I call them ‘frients’. I was drawn to Tanya’s sense of adventure immediately, and we’ve been talking about getting together for some time. It finally happened the day after their photo shoot, when she and a friend joined me and a friend for some paddleboarding! Let’s not wait another year to get together again!

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!! It’s a pandemic. The weather has been absolute rainy garbage. Because it’s a pandemic and indoor activities are out, outside is freedom, and rain means house arrest. I digress. I AM SO EXCITED!!! This mom is an absolute rock star. Any other mom would have cancelled a session with the forecast we had. But she and I were in communication all day, and decided to brave our weather apps and go for our photo session during a break in the rain, and I’M SO GLAD WE DID!!!
Followers of my work know that Wynwood has long been one of my favorite places to shoot. The vibrant colors and street art just speaks to my soul, and I love to explore and collaborate with families in this area. Every session I feel like I discover something new. And this was my first time back there since the before times. And this family was so much fun to play with and photograph. Basically, the stars aligned, we had an awesome evening, and yeah, I’m totally jazzed about that! Oh, and did I forget to mention that this all led to the creation of some absolutely beautiful images?!

I had been looking forward to photographing this couple’s wedding, but the pandemic had other plans. They didn’t reschedule their special day, opting to keep their ceremony small and safe, rescheduling their photos instead. I’m back behind my camera, shooting mostly outdoors, with a mask and social distancing, and I was so glad to be able to have the opportunity to capture the love between these two!

I loved getting to meet this family for their photo session last year, so I was absolutely thrilled to get them on the calendar again for this year! During the pandemic, we’ve all been taking refuge outdoors, as a break from the four walls of our homes, and many of us have been spending a lot of time at the beach. So it was no surprise that this family wanted this year’s session on the sand, and I was happy to oblige! We were blessed with an oasis of sunshine between weeks of rain, and this family brought their own inner light to reflect the light of the sunshine!
