K Extended Family Photo Session

I had the pleasure of photographing one of these families last fall, so I was excited to meet the rest of dad’s side of the family for an extended family photo session.  We met at the park and started with some more formal family shots at a favorite spot that is a path in the woods that seems to go on forever.  Then we moved over to the lake and had fun exploring the area.  There were canoes there too, so of course we had to take advantage and use one as a photo prop!  I love the irony of that shot, because you’d never actually have THAT many people in one canoe.

CZ and Family: Extended Family Photo Session

This session has been in the works for a long time, and this Spring, while this family was all together, we finally made it happen!  After some initial confusion about which spot in the park would be best to begin our session, we froze time as this family enjoyed each others’ company.  It can certainly be challenging to get such a big group looking in the same direction or interacting so they’re not looking at me (and I can still see all of them), but this group did just that and they rocked it!

Anna, Jonathan, and Coralee Maternity

After such a beautiful session with this family, I was excited to get them in front of my camera again, this time for a maternity session!  When Anna told me her vision for this shoot included flowers for the girls’ hair, I thought the abundant nature at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park would be the perfect backdrop.  We got a little more nature than we expected as we were pretty much attacked by no-see-ums.  Ugh!  But we didn’t let a swarm of tiny insects stop us!  We just kept re-applying insect repellant and cortisone cream, and smiling for the camera!  I’m still itching the heck out of my bites, but for photos this lovely, it was worth it!

Lauren & Anthony’s 10th Anniversary

2 years ago, my family's life changed for the better when this beautiful family moved in across the street. Now my two boys can have playdates with these two boys, pretty much any time they want!

Yesterday though, it was all about Lauren and Anthony, and celebrating their 10th anniversary with a modern wedding portrait session. Lauren got a great new dress, and dressed her boys on the casual side of formal with great flowers for this outdoor woodsy setting.

It was an awesome evening, and I hope we're lucky enough to still be neighbors for your 20th anniversary photo shoot!
