This wedding took place on New Year’s Day, you know, the day after New Year’s Eve. This group of family and friends had quite the busy and celebratory evening the night before, but after some caffeine consumption, were ready to celebrate Diana and Tom’s love. They had planned on an outdoor ceremony by the lake in their community, but the weather had other plans. After an outdoor processional, the ceremony was moved indoors. With a quick placement of a flash behind the officiant, I was ready to go. After a few more bridal party pictures once the rain cleared up, this group was ready to party. The party was pretty laid back. I’m assuming the heavy partying happened the night before! But sometimes a relaxed celebration is all you need to connect with the couple and soak up the love that they’re radiating, and Diana and Tom had plenty!

Trisha, Avi, Aaron, Jonah, and Lana: Valentine’s Mini Session
The last time I had this family in front of my camera, mom and dad revealed the gender of the upcoming addition to their family to the boys. One of those pictures is still mom’s Facebook profile picture, almost a year later. I love that! Lana is here, and she is beautiful! Everyone had fun on set, and were patient while we crafted the perfect everyone looking their best family portrait. I think we got it, and I hope it can represent mom on social media until the next time we get together!

Marcos, Gisela, and Max welcome Luciana
When this dad scheduled a newborn session for their 3 week old baby girl, I recommended scheduling it at the time of the day that baby is sleepiest. He said we could schedule the session any time of day and that baby sleeps all day. While it’s true Luciana was asleep when I arrived, once we picked her up to join us for pictures, she woke up, and stayed awake throughout her entire session! No Pinterest-worthy sleepy shots for us, but she has great, alert, expressive eyes, which I was more than happy to capture. She has a sweet and calm disposition, and spent the hour soaking up the love from her proud parents and their dog, Max. I hope to get to watch her grow!

Mommy and Me Valentine’s Mini Session
I’m a member of a Facebook group where I’ll sometimes share when I have a photo event scheduled. This mom responded, and I’m so glad she did! As it turns, we grew up in the same community, have 24 mutual Facebook friends, and I’m sure I’ve seen her around. Alicia is as cute as can be and was very excited to interact with all of the props on my set. Not only that, but she was genuinely interested in having her picture taken, so I got to imagine what it would be like to be a fashion photographer. It was great to meet (or re-meet) you gals, and I hope to get you in front of my camera again soon!

Makenzie’s Valentine’s Mini Session
I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know this family since mom’s baby shower, and it’s been fun to watch them grow. We’ve kept in touch on Facebook, so seeing Makenzie’s adorable smile was no surprise, but getting to capture it in front of my camera was an absolute pleasure. I even got to do my favorite mom move while her mom went to get something from the car. You know the one, the hold the baby on your hip, bounce, look into their eyes and sing made up songs in your high voice. Yeah, that one, that most male adults hate, but babies absolutely adore! Until next time, sweet baby girl!
