Mason’s Bar Mitzvah at Temple Kol Ami in Plantation, FL began with a meaningful Saturday service followed by a delicious brunch. One of the most unexpected moments was when Mason proudly walked out of the ballroom clutching his personalized candy and chocolate basket, not just to enjoy it, but to liberate it from the rest of the guests and share it exclusively with his friends in the lobby. Peak mitzvah energy, and I loved every second of it.
Between bites, guests enjoyed pop-a-shot basketball, ping pong, and air hockey, adding to the laid-back fun of the afternoon. The celebration continued that evening at Mason’s house with his friends, where an inflatable club with a DJ set the scene. And yet, like kids who always choose the cardboard box over the fancy toy, most of the evening unfolded in the driveway and the street. They played basketball, rode bikes, and took turns with Mason’s little sister’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo-style pumpkin carriage ride-on toy. Even though they were clearly too big for it, that package of pink and purple on wheels brought all the nostalgic summer joy.
There were yummy snacks, plenty of pizza, and so much personality packed into this celebration.
