Sense of Wonder: Off-Set

This weekend, I attended the Sense of Wonder workshop with Brooke Logue Photography in Tampa, FL. To practice what we'd learned, we had many photo shoot opportunities, that were unlike any I've ever done, with professional models, styled head to toe. The images I captured on-set are great, and I am excited to share those with you later, but I am really drawn to these images that I captured off-set, when the girls were less aware that I was watching and photographing. 

I also really felt like I was doing my thing, as my approach was the same documentary-style I’d use when photographing an event like a wedding or a mitzvah, so I feel my presence in these photos.  When I posted them on Facebook earlier this morning, the positive response was tremendous. I’m truly humbled.  Thank you for the photo love, and enjoy!

Beautiful Avery

This weekend, I attended the Sense of Wonder workshop in Tampa with Brooke Logue Photography. She wanted to teach us about photographing in harsh light (mid-day, bright, direct sunlight), but our workshop days were cloudy, so we only spoke about it in theory! On the way home today, I saw some beautiful direct sunlight, so I took my niece outside for some practice, and I love the results!
I also took some pages out of Tonya Poitevint Photography's handbook, asking my subject to interact with the nature in the yard. Thanks for the lessons, ladies! I can't wait to share the rest of the images from the workshop!

Stella’s 7 Month Portraits

I love photographing this little lady, and seeing her photos on her family's Facebook feed. One day I commented that she's growing up so fast, and that while cel phone photos are great, I would love to take some of her pictures. I'm so glad her mommy listened, b/c we had a beautiful day with great company at the lovely Amelia Earhart Park to capture this baby girl and her parents (with a special guest appearance by her cousins!).

Amanda, Rob, Emma, Landon, and Layla have an announcement

This family has a special announcement, which they wanted to share with their family and friends through pictures!  We hadn’t counted on young children smudging the message along the way, but that’s ok, we had plenty of chalk!  After we captured their pregnancy reveal, we had fun walking around the park and enjoying the nature and beautiful morning light.  I can’t wait to see this family again for their gender reveal, one of my favorite types of sessions to photograph!

Ellis’ Bar Mitzvah at Wherehouse 2016

I was so excited when I looked up where this Bar Mitzvah reception would be held.  Wherehouse 2016 is a unique venue in North Miami Beach, FL which is decorated from floor to ceiling with brightly colored murals, objects, and lights.  Anyone who knows me, knows I’m into bright colors, so this was such an incredible opportunity for me!  Ellis’ celebration was bright and upbeat, matching the feel of the venue perfectly.  He was the center of the attention of his friends, and it was special to capture the bond they seemed to share and the friendship they seemed to radiate.  Mazel Tov on reaching this milestone, and I wish you the joy of many more simchas to come!
