This photo shoot was for two sets of siblings whose families will be uniting when their parents tie the knot next year. So Ashlee rounded up the guys for a photo shoot as a surprise holiday gift for their parents. I know photo shoots are not most guys' favorite way to spend the afternoon, but they were troopers, and worked with me as I had them get close, climb branches, and sit on the ground!
Alejandra and Gene’s Wedding Celebration and Portraits
Alejandra and Gene had an intimate wedding back in October at the courthouse. I couldn't be there to take their photos b/c I was working, but they were able to capture some great shots on their cel phones. I was happy to be there that evening though to capture their celebration with family and close friends. Congrats, Mr. & Mrs.!
We took some nice indoor portraits then, and had talked about meeting again to get some outdoor portraits at the beach. We met again a few weeks later. Our session got pushed back a bit due to an earlier threat of rain, so instead of meeting before the sun went down, we met with their family who was visiting from out of town, as the sun had just left the sky. It was a different look than we'd originally intended, and the darker skies added some nice drama to the photos. Congrats again, you two!

Nikki and Sully
Nikki contacted me a while back to ask if I would photograph her with her dog while she was in town from school. I assumed she was an undergrad with a tiny dog. Imagine my surprise when she shows up at the park with her giant (to my preconceived at the time mind) Italian Mastiff, named Sully, and I learn that she is a vet school student.
The little boy I was photographing previously, who hadn't smiled for our entire session, was running circles around Sully giggling, so we were off to a good start! Not being a pet owner myself, I asked Nikki why she wanted portraits with hers. She explained that when her previous dog passed away, she realized she didn't have any pictures with it, and that she wanted to get pictures with Sully every year! That explanation really helped me connect with the task of this particular shoot, and capture these moments.

KoRes Corp Holiday Party
I had met Monica, one of the leading ladies at KoRes when I was taking photographs at her daughter's birthday. She had a fun family to work with, and I was excited when she asked me to photograph her company's holiday party, because I imagined there would be a similar crowd.
The party started off as a typical corporate party would, with folks making their rounds and chatting, but once they took out a large bag full of colorful balloons, the party, and the dancing, got going in earnest. And these people know how to move!! Next time I have an event to go to, I'm calling them for lessons!

Paisley, Charlie, Piper, and Caden
This was an engagement / family session, as Paisley and Charlie will be tying the knot this coming February. Their special day will be photographed by none other than yours truly, and I suggested we get together for a photo shoot so we could meet and get to know how we work together before the big day. They’re planning a “country chic” themed wedding, so it was only fitting that we got some pictures with the red barn and building at Tradewinds Park. We had a short session, but were efficient and captured some great moments of this family.
