Lana’s Bat Mitzvah pre shoot in the Miami Design District had that perfect mix of style, color and personality that makes this spot such a favorite. She settled in right away, moving through the bold architecture and bright corners with so much ease. The district gave us endless backdrops, and Lana brought her own spark to every one.

What made the session even sweeter was watching her interact with her younger sisters and her parents. Her sisters were so excited to be part of it, jumping in for little moments and giving us those genuine sibling smiles that you can’t stage. Lana was patient and playful with them, and it added a softness to the shoot that balanced the modern vibe of the district. Her mom and dad were right there too, proud and relaxed, soaking in the moment and enjoying watching their girl shine.

I’m excited for her Bat Mitzvah next month. Jackson’s Bar Mitzvah pre shoot at Wolf Lake Park was such a fun one, especially with his Lego theme. He brought his favorite sets, a mix of Star Wars and video‑game builds, and the video‑game ones actually moved, lit up and could be played. They added so much color and personality to the session, and it felt like we were photographing pieces of his world rather than just props.

It was also really sweet seeing how much big brother Logan has grown since his own Bar Mitzvah a few years ago. There’s something special about photographing siblings over time, watching their personalities evolve and seeing the family dynamic shift in the best ways. Jackson settled right in, and the Legos gave us endless ways to make the shoot feel playful and true to him.

I’m already looking forward to the main event next month. Pre shoots are always a great warm‑up, but this one felt like the perfect preview of what’s ahead. As a South Florida Bar Mitzvah photographer, I love creating sessions that feel personal, fun and full of meaning, and Jackson brought all of that with him.

Josh’s Bar Mitzvah pre shoot had me saying, how is it his turn already?! I photographed his big sisters Eli and Sasha, so being back with this family felt like picking up a story I’ve enjoyed for years. Regal Broward was the perfect setting, and the staff was so kind about letting us play in the space. A movie theater is already fun, but for Josh it felt like stepping into his own world.

We worked our way through the box office, concession area, hallway and then into the theater itself. The darkness inside gave us some great opportunities for creative play with light, and Josh was completely in his element. The whole vibe was energetic, playful and very him, the kind of pre shoot where every corner gives you something new to work with.

We wrapped with a popcorn throw, which was exactly the kind of chaos that makes these sessions unforgettable. We started Sydney and Jackson’s B’nai Mitzvah session at B’nai Torah Congregation in Boca, where we did their mock mitzvah portraits with the Torah. After a quick break, we decided to move up the rest of the session to beat the rain, one of those classic South Florida curveballs that somehow always leads to something good.

We headed to Wynwood Walls, and I love how the energy shifted the moment we arrived. The family let loose and came alive in a way that felt so natural and so them. They are more vibrant than the walls, and I am obsessed with how that shows in the photos. I always say that when you show me your you, that is where the magic happens, and this session was exactly that.

Jonah’s Bar Mitzvah pre shoot took us to Robbins Park in Davie, one of my favorite spots for its lovely nature and pretty light most times of the day. It’s the kind of place that feels easy the moment you arrive, and Jonah settled right into it.

At the beginning of the session, he and his sister started playfully roughhousing after their first set of portraits, and I was very encouraging of this behavior. I wanted them to be themselves and have fun because when you are having fun, your photos reflect this feeling, and that is where the magic happens. That unfiltered energy carried through to their parents, and the whole family shared joy the entire session. Lifestyle photography is this hybrid between portraiture and documentary, a collaborative experience where I am giving prompts and you are allowing a natural, playful flow that encourages new prompts. They inspired me to try things I had not tried in a while, and they pulled it off beautifully.
