Skylar’s Bat Mitzvah

I got into photography for the people, for the connections.  I love that it has allowed me to meet so many new people and re-connect with people from my past.  Like this mitzvah girl’s dad, who I was friends with in High School.  It’s always an honor when someone chooses me to capture their special day, and even more so when that someone trusts the businesswoman and photographer I’ve grown into since we last met.  And photographing Bar and Bat Mitzvahs is my absolute favorite.  I love my family photography, and I love my event photography.  I think that’s part of what I love so much about Mitzvah photography is that it combines the two. 

I love the symbolism of a child becoming an adult in the eyes of the Torah, and I love the parents’ and siblings’ pride in watching this milestone unfold.  And what’s not to love about the celebrations that follow?!  They’re always a blast, and really centered around rejoicing with the mitzvah teen, who is the center of the admiration of her family and friends. From a theme expressing her interests to speeches, dances, and presentations, it’s my favorite kind of party to experience and freeze in time.  Skylar’s Bat Mitzvah was all of this and more, and I share this perspective so as you view these images, you’ll not only see what I saw, but you’ll feel some of what I felt too.  Mazel Tov to Skylar and her family.  It was wonderful working with you, and I can’t wait to do it again for Logan before you know it! Agnieska, Jon, Melina, Keila, and Benicio

Agnieska, Jon, and I worked together at one of the earlier jobs in our Engineering careers, before these guys were married, and before these kids were born.  We’ve kept in touch through Facebook, so Agnieska knew what I was up to with my photography.  I always love hearing about old friends that are new fans of my work, and I love it even more when I get that email asking when I’m available to schedule their session!  And this family and these photos did not disappoint.  They were more than comfortable with just spending time together and enjoying each other in front of my camera, which gave me plenty of So You moments to capture for them!

Sonny’s Bris

My lovely and photogenic cousin had a baby boy 8 days ago, so yesterday he had his brit milah (circumcision) and naming surrounded by family and friends. After the highlight of the celebrations, we hung out for a bit. Figured we'd prefer to spend time with family than spend time in traffic! Jaron absolutely LOVED playing with big sister Stella and was SO SWEET with her!!!  Welcome to the family, Sonny! I can't wait to watch you grow! 

Janisse, Christian, Liam, Tristan, and Family welcome baby Olivier!

I love getting to watch families grow.  These twins have really matured since our last photo session, especially now that they are big brothers to another little boy!  We had fun relaxing and playing and enjoying this new baby.  He was so alert and calm throughout most of our session together, parents were relaxed and took it all in stride, and I hope to see more of them as they continue to grow!

This mom and I have a mutual admiration for each other’s work.  She does incredible hand drawn photo booth props (check out The Party Event on Etsy if you ever need them), and she’s followed my growth in my photography career.  She’d been planning this session for a while, and I’m so glad were finally able to make it happen, and on an evening with such gorgeous lighting to boot!  You can tell that this family loves each other and has fun together, and it’s always an honor for me to be able to capture that for them in their photos.  Check ‘em out.  See if you can tell, too!  So You!
