Matt and Kevin were married this weekend at their alma mater, the University of Miami. We began the afternoon with some portraits in the shelter of the new student center, which overlooks the campus’ iconic lake, because the sunshine state isn’t always sunny. The ceremony was held at the school’s alumni center, where while we were dry inside, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Much love and hugs were exchanged over cocktails, followed by a joyous celebration. There were welcome speeches, a song by the bridal party, a flash mob dance, and a music video slide show. The table cards were hand drawn by Matt, and upon his request, we re-created a wedding photo his parents took many years earlier. It was a pleasure to have captured the love and energy shared by and for this couple, and that they carry that love and energy throughout their life together as husbands!

Stella’s 1st Birthday Party
This past weekend, this little cutie celebrated her first birthday! She is the one who makes my job so easy, with those expressive eyes, beautiful smile, and delightful personality. She participated in circle time with her family and friends, and a good time was had by all. This group is especially fun, b/c it’s the second generation. I’m sure we could dig up photos of her mom with these kids’ moms. Maybe these kiddos will look back on these photos with their kids for the third generation! Her cake smash was delicate and relatively clean, which is only fitting for such a sweet little girl. This post is timed on the eve of her first birthday, and I wish her the happiest of days, and many more to come!

Kristy and Bill’s 15th Anniversary Vow Renewal
This lovely couple has renewed their vows every 5 years of their happy marriage. This year was particularly special, as they celebrated 15 years on 7/15/15 – that’s a lot of 15s! It’s been memorable for them to celebrate and mark this milestone in their family’s life. As we were taking family portraits, Kristyn remarked that her oldest will be 18 the next time they do this! Kristyn decided to wear color instead of white this time. It was a great choice, and I love how the color pops in the photos, and coordinates with the rest of the family’s outfits. This event was also my first opportunity to practice some of the lighting techniques I picked up while assisting at Ricky Stern Photography’s lighting workshop (scroll down for the last 3 photos). I hope your wedded bliss only grows in the next 5 years until you do this again!

Danny, Caleb, Ryan, Juliana, Nick, and Family Patriotic Portraits
Caleb’s mom saw that I was doing some themed sessions for summer and July 4th, so she got her extended family together for some cousins pictures! Little Nick was going through his I don’t want to let go of Mommy and if I do I’ll cry phase, which can make for a challenging kids only portrait session, but we had a few tricks up our sleeve (including some post-processing)! Everyone had a good time, and we turned out these beauties!

Vivian’s Newborn Family Session
A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of capturing one of my favorite families to photograph. Their calm is contagious, even with a 1 year old and a newborn baby in the house, and their love always radiates from the photographs. They are photogenic and comfortable in front of the camera, and really, just make my job easy! Until next time R family!
